Barkworthy Dog Emporium was founded in 2021by Carole and Tony inspired by two very special red Malamutes, Kira and Bailey Bear who appear on our logo
We fell in love with Kira in 2011 at 10 weeks old after researching Malamutes and deciding that was the breed for us, little did we know how much it would change our lives
It led to us discovering sled dog rescue and 2 years later we adopted Bailey Bear who was a year old and on death row. Carole then went on in November 2015 to become a Co-Founder of Reach Sled Dog Rescue which rescues and rehomes Northern Breeds.
We lost our much-loved Bailey Bear on 10th November 2020; he went to sleep and never woke up aged 7. Then on 16th May 2021 our beautiful Kira crossed to Rainbow Bridge after collapsing. We were devastated but I think they would be happy that our new venture is dedicated to them.
They were both loved so much, and we think every dog should have more choice, so we decided it was time to offer something different than the larger pet stores to enhance all dogs’ lives.
Our mission is to provide top-quality treats, toys, accessories, bespoke collars, gifts and lots more plus general advice.
The joy and satisfaction of owners seeing the benefit and improvement in their dog is extremely rewarding. We want as many people as possible to feel the way we do about our own furry family and benefit from our knowledge and experience. So, we want to work with our customers to provide them with everything they and their dogs need for a fantastic life together.
